Full Time Rving on The Road to Homesteading
What Full Time RVing on the Road to Our Homestead means to us! Why We Chose This Life and Who We are.
So I'm new to the Blogging World and New to the Homesteading World, But What I'm not new to is RVing. My name is Jayme & I've been living in an RV off and on since I was 16 and have learned a few tricks to the trade. My Husband Adam is used to tiny home living and works extremely hard for us to live this life.
The tiny home craze is appealing to me as a mother of 3 because, well quite frankly less room for crap. This forces us to live minimally. If you can comfortably live in a Mobile home, why can't you live in an RV? We as a unit decided to live Full Time until we have our Homestead built.
When Adam and I met we both had a common interest in living self sufficiently and growing a happy life. So since then, we've been trying to work toward that goal as well as growing our family.
The two of us together have spent hours researching zoning ordinances, structure blueprints, different styles of houses, houses best suited for ALL 4 seasons, and ANY natural disaster, how to be self-sufficient. I'm at the point where I've read up on every town ordinance about animals and building houses, what you can and can't do to a class 6 road. Watching countless shows on how to be resourceful in our Homestead. Our goal is to live in our RV as long as it takes to build our dream barn.
So let me Break it Down ...
In October 2018 We found out We were having our first baby together, a girl named Abella; that made us think about purchasing land for a home, but we wanted to be off-grid and self-sufficient. Why? You ask .. because of NO BILLS. In November of that same year, we purchased 5.6 acres of land from my In-Laws. We sat on it for about a year cutting trees down here and there with the plan to clear cut in early summer 2020.
And then the pandemic hit. This pandemic was an eye-opener for not just us as a family but the entire world as a whole. When the pandemic hit and Adam was laid off we were terrified of the outcome for us financially. That was when we decided to abandon our apartment and move out to our land in this tiny single bedroom trailer as a family of 4. At the end of July 2020, we made the great adventure with a one-year-old and a 7-year-old to live off-grid.
We stayed through the clearing of property and the opening of the rest of the class 6 road. We got married in August of 2020 and found out We were having baby number 3. After the baby news, we decided to bring a new baby to that lifestyle wasn't the best choice as parents. So we moved in with my inlaws. That lasted a hot 37 seconds until we found an apartment. We left before our lease was up because we got the most wonderful RV that would allow us to live in a tiny home.

Looking back it was the best time of our lives, we were so free. We are working as hard as we can to get back there. The peace is like none other honestly.
From here we're trying to prepare as much as we can for the big move in the summer of '22 where we plan to stay and figure it out.
For us, this is a way of life we want to break into to give our children a secure self-sufficient lifestyle. As We are seeing the cost of living is rising AGAIN and Who can keep up. If we take control of the things we can it'll be like we never went without. I want us to find alternatives to the power company, water company, town sewage, and to harness the power of being free in a weird time in America.
Now call me overdramatic but in a sense, I want to prepare my children for the collapse of the world we know. We are just parents that want to provide a good life regardless of the world around us.
In this blog, I'll bring you along for My Family's adventures on the road to the Homestead of our dreams. Sharing the good, the bad, and the ugly of off-grid RV living and Homesteading.
